Guide to Pisces

If you're brand new to astrology, you may hear "Pisces" and simply think, "someone born in February/March."

That idea comes from Pisces season, when the Sun drifts through Pisces each year. Pisces also lives somewhere in every birth chart, and throughout the year other planets wander through Pisces too, stirring that particular Pisces atmosphere for everyone, not just those late-February and March birthdays. One minute you’re doing something normal like washing a mug, the next minute you’re ten layers deep in a memory, a song lyric, and a strangely moving thought about sea turtles.

Below you'll find a little breakdown of Pisces energy.

Pisces Season

Pisces Season (February 18–March 20) arrives when the zodiac softens around the edges and the imagination gets louder. People born during this stretch often carry the sign’s intuitive, emotionally porous personality. During Pisces season, everyone can feel a little more reflective, more attuned to subtle moods, and more likely to drift into a daydream halfway through an ordinary moment.

Pisces in the Birth Chart

Even if you were born in, say, August, Pisces still rules a house of your birth chart, and you may even have planets there. A Moon in Pisces, for example, often absorbs the emotional atmosphere of a stressful moment like a sponge and then disappears into music, a long shower, or a strange but meaningful train of thought. A North Node in Pisces tends to guide someone toward compassion, imagination, and trusting the quieter signals of intuition. Even if you're supposed to be a very practical Virgo.

Element: Water → Feels everything. Explains almost none of it.

Modality: Mutable → Emotionally adaptive, spiritually slippery.

Symbol: The Fish → One swims with you, the other swims away.

Ruling Planet: Neptune → Dreams, illusions, and your secret urge to disappear.

Season: February 18 – March 20 → End of winter. Beginning of the emotional spiral (but make it poetic).
